Trott’s Charity Day

There was a great turnout for the Charity event last Sunday, in memory of the late, and hugely popular, Trott Marsden.  Teams of four players entered the Texas Scramble and enjoyed wonderful Autumn sunshine over 18 holes at Ley Hill.  Despite the recent damp weather, the course was in excellent condition, and there were some fine scores, particularly from some of the visiting teams, who had connections with Trott and his family.

The winning team was Ian Morris, Davy Nichols, Colin Harrisson and [former groundsman] Craig King.  Their score of Nett 60, Gross 53.6 was too good for the rest of the field!  Merv Newman’s tee shot (to 2 feet) won the nearest-to-the-pin competition.  The prizes were presented by Trot’s daughter Maria, and over £1400 was raised for the Brain Tumor charity.
